Assistant Residency Program Director Sports Medicine / POCUS Part of what drew me to Family Medicine was the wonderful people who choose this profession, and the relationships we get to build with patients. After I completed my Family Medicine and Sports Medicine training at KP Los Angeles, I moved to San Jose for 7 years and was part of the founding faculty that started a new Family Medicine residency program. I went on to become Associate Program Director, and I also completed a Faculty Development Fellowship to learn how to better teach in medical education, along with continuing my Sports Medicine practice. Watching residents grow from timid interns to eventual colleagues is a rewarding transformation to be a part of, and I am very happy to be back in Orange County (where I grew up) to continue doing this every day.

Core Administrative Faculty Assist. FM Department Chief Certified Hypertension Specialist From the moment I stepped into medical school, I knew I wanted to be a Family Physician. Caring for our members is the greatest privilege as we guide them through their health journeys. Primary care is the cornerstone of our patient’s health due to the breadth of our care and relationships with our patients. My training instilled a deep interest in evidence-based medicine, quality improvement and a passion for teaching. The joy of seeing freshly minted physicians evolve into world-class, mature, Board-certified Family Physicians is unparalleled. My favorite modes of teaching are at the bedside, in the exam room, spur of the moment “chalk talks” and organized didactics. I’ve been fortunate to be engaged in multiple administrative roles which have shown me the great complexity and teamwork it takes to provide world-class top quality care.

Pediatrics I am originally from Northern California and attended medical school at the University of Utah. After four years in beautiful Salt Lake City, where I was able to take part in the excitement of the 2002 Olympics, I finished my residency training at Children's Hospital of Orange County. With the constant sun and my love for running and other outdoor sports, I quickly made Orange County my home. After graduating from my pediatrics residency, I stayed on as an attending physician for one more year, before eventually joining the Southern California Permanente Medical Group.

Behavioral Medicine I was born at a KP hospital in Los Angeles and, if all goes as planned, I’ll retire as a career-long Kaiser Psychologist in Orange County. My focus is on psychological testing, individual psychotherapy, and the training of beginning psychologists and physicians. This aspect of my career has allowed me to share my experience, love of learning, and pay back some of the time and effort that was shared with me over the years by amazing teachers, professors, mentors, and colleagues.

Behavioral Medicine I grew up in Tehran, Iran, and after finishing medical school, I moved to the United States. I completed my Adult Psychiatry residency and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship. Since 2009, I have been with Orange County Kaiser Permanente. My approach to mental health involves advocating for awareness, reducing the stigma associated with mental health conditions, and improving the quality of life for my patients and their families. I believe in collaborative care model between psychiatry and family medicine, as well as early intervention programs for at-risk populations, and strongly support the mental health needs of adults, children and adolescents.
